Even at the foot of the Serra da Freita, there are plenty of reasons to be dazzled. The landscape is covered by a green blanket, and there are places, such as the Granja nurseries and the quartzodiorite boulders, that are must-see stops. The houses, dotted across the mountains through the villages of Ameixieira, Chão-de-Espinho, Espinho, Povos, Forcada, and St.ª Mª do Monte, seem to guard the treasures of Freita, which are also well worth a visit to explore.
