This is a short circular trail offering great scenic, cultural, and environmental interest. It is 7.5 km long, starting at the square in front of the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Refúgio, in the village of Fojo, at an altitude of 1,040 meters.

Heading toward the village of Codeçal, you can see patches of well-preserved Quercus pyrenaica oak trees. Enter Gosende, a rural village, and follow the trail markers. Cross through the village and walk toward Cotelo, another village where sheep farming is a way of life. Of the cattle, the Arouquesa breed is the most common. Before the bridge, you will find a peat bog stretching as far as the eye can see in the Balsemão River valley.

Cross this valley to Campo Benfeito, a village belonging to the “Aldeias de Portugal” group. In winter, this route is flooded, so special footwear is recommended. In Campo Benfeito, you can visit the Capuchinhas de Montemuro, located in the former primary school building, and the Serra do Montemuro Regional Theater.

Back on the road, continue the route to the meeting point, the square in front of the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Refúgio, in the village of Fojo.

The route can be taken in either direction.
