BGC PR10 - Da Monumental Basílica de Santo Cristo de Outeiro à imponência do Rio Sabor walking

Bragança 13 kms 04:30:00

Description

The route begins in the village of Outeiro, next to the monumental Minor Basilica of Santo Cristo de Outeiro. It continues toward the E.N. 218, which we cross via a bridge, where the descent to the Sabor River begins. The first 2 km pass through farmland, but as you descend the Vale dos Pereiros, the landscape changes, and amid broom, rockrose, and cistus, the Sabor River and the medieval Grijó Bridge—which connects Outeiro and Parada—begin to come into view in the distance.

A break is recommended to regain your strength and enjoy the scenery, as the path ahead is all uphill, up to the village of Paçó.

Upon reaching the Cruz de Cima square in the center of the village, the route heads south, back toward Outeiro, initially along a paved road and then through farmland, following a small stream.

Once back in Outeiro, we recommend a more detailed visit to the village (Parish Church, Minor Basilica of Santo Cristo de Outeiro, pillory, old town hall, and jail) and to the castle ruins on the hill overlooking the village.
