Description
A journey featuring moments of rare beauty as you walk
along the banks of the Ribeira da Seda and through vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see.
After a short initial stretch through town, the entire route follows
easily accessible rural paths and roads with breathtaking scenery.
Leave
Rua 1º de Maio and turn right, go up Rua do Poço and continue
along the white houses of Vila de Seda, via Rua Cândido dos Reis, Rua 5
de Outubro, and finally Rua do Castelo. After admiring the view from the
lookout point, where the now-demolished Seda Castle once stood, walk
back down the path a short distance and turn left down the small steps of
Ribeirinho. Take the descending rural path and turn left at a
sharp curve at the first fork. Follow the rural path, which further
ahead begins to follow the left bank of the Ribeira da Seda, until
you reach the paved surface of the old road.
Pass by the
picnic area and come to the Roman Bridge of Vila Formosa, which you
cross, continuing along the abandoned paved road. At the junction with the road,
turn left onto the Vila Formosa road, admiring the
fabulous Alentejo hills, the pools of water formed in the agricultural dams,
and the vineyards and olive groves stretching as far as the eye can see. In the distance, on the
horizon, the sight of Vila da Seda stirs the emotions of those walking.
Cross the Ribeira da Seda again via a modest road bridge and, upon
reaching the village, turn left at the first street and then right,
leading to the Mother Church. Head down to the left toward Rua Cândido
dos Reis and continue to Poço Novo, where the journey began.
