Description
The short “Trilho de São Lourenço” trail begins and ends at the information panel located in the village of Pombal, near the Church of S. Lourenço de Pombal. It heads toward the Calçada de S. Lourenço Lookout and follows the entire Calçada to the village of São Lourenço. In this village, known for its hot springs with medicinal waters, there is a side trail leading to the old São Lourenço station, now a pier used by boats that provide service between the Foz Tua Dam and the village of Brunheda. Leaving São Lourenço, the trail heads toward the Barrabáz overlook. Along this section, you can take a side trail that leads very close to the Tua River, where the Santa Luzia station once stood. This Short Route passes through the São Lourenço micro-reserve, where forests and rock outcrops provide habitat for a vast variety of plant and animal species.
