The route begins in Amendoeira, southeast of Café Mateus (120 m), leaving the EN523 and turning onto an old path that winds through ditches. Further on, it joins the road (CM1195) that connects Amendoeira to Carvalhal, and immediately afterward, we turn onto another path. When you reach the EN523, turn left and continue for about 450m before turning right and heading up to Alcaria do Gato. It’s time to head down into the Vale das Mercês; turn right to continue the route.Continue through the enchanting Vale das Mercês to Fonte Filipe and then on to Almarjão; from there, head up to Amendoeira; passing through ditches and along primitive paths, you’ll reach the end of the route, where you’ll find monumental carob trees. At the end of the route, about 150 meters away, you can visit the Fonte do Ribeiro in Amendoeira, located on the east side of the EN523.
